Nicole Bolinger Marketing & Photography!

By Amanda DiGiacomo

  1. What is the name of the business? What is the owner’s name?

Nicole Bolinger Marketing & Photography

 2. What services or products do you offer?

I offer commercial photography for businesses and marketing consulting and contract work.

3. How long as the business been open?

Over a decade as a photographer and marketing the last 2 years.

4. What inspired you to start your own business?

I became a stay at home mom and became obsessed with learning how to take amazing pics of my kids.  Next thing I know people are asking me to take pictures of their kids and family.  So I guess you could say my kids inspired me.  A decade later they love seeing their mother work towards her goals and dreams.  They are my biggest fans and even refer me to their friends and teachers!

5. What did you do to develop the skills to start/run your business?

I read a lot.  That was before the YouTube boom, so I took classes and researched, I even read my camera manual.  Amazing how much useful information is in a manual.. lol!  And of course, practice, practice, practice.

6. Share with us one of your biggest success to date?

The first thing that comes to mind was when the city I lived in asked to to take pictures of the courthouse and square for them.  I felt honored to be the chosen photographer of  the City.  Of course, there have been a million small successes along the way!

7. Share with us one of your biggest challenges to date?

Charging my worth!  It is a constant battle.  I definitely charge more than I used to and charge my worth, but I always second guess myself. But at the end of the day, you have to ask your worth.  Your client will either take it or walk away.  If they walk away, they aren’t the client your meant to work with!

8. What is your favorite part of the business?

Meeting new people.  I am a very social person, so meeting and talking with people energize me.  And getting to know my clients makes my photography and marketing advice that much better!

9. What is the nicest thing a customer has said about your business?

How much they love working with me.  When someone enjoys working with me, then they enjoy my pictures and marketing advice.  I am my business and I try to leave people better than when they left me.

10. Who inspires you to keep going?

My kids and husband.  They have ALWAYS been so supportive and want me to reach my goals.

When I doubt myself they have my back!

11. What advice do you have for someone who wants to start their own business?

Just do it!  Jump in.  You’ll figure it all along the way.

Thanks for the continued support. Stayed tuned for our next week’s small business spotlight.
